Vow of Silence: Dec. 1st
The Youth Action Committee is organizing an Annette and HPA Vow of Silence. We are doing this because we want to recognize the women, children, men and families that don’t have a voice. Whether it’s not having the right to vote, or go to school or being silenced for what they believe in, ie religion, gender identification, race, etc…
The grade 4-8 students will be participating in the Vow of Silence between 9 and 10 am on Tuesday, December 1st. There is no participation fee, for that hour. If your child is in grades 4-8, and would like to participate longer than that hour, either for the rest of the day or a few hours longer, it is a minimum of $2. We suggest $5 dollars, and there is no maximum. All of the money collected will go to Lifeline Syria to support the refugees coming to Toronto.
When your child makes their donation they will receive a sticker to wear on Dec.1st that will say “ I am participating in the Vow of Silence”. Your child will also receive a card for them to fill in stating why they are choosing to be silent. If a teacher asks your child a question, or they have a presentation to make they should speak for that time. We ask that you remind your children to please be serious and respectful of this awareness and fundraising campaign. If they would like to students can donate money but not participate. Your child should already be informed by our class visits, posters and announcements. Money will be collected by people from The Youth Action Committee. The money is due Monday, November, 30th. We hope your children participate.

RED NOSE CAMPAIGN
We’re excited to announce that our schools will be participating in The Red Nose Campaign to assist Toronto students in need. From December 1st to 18th we will be selling flashing red noses for $3.00 each. All proceeds go to the Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS) to help provide food, warm clothing and other essentials to Toronto students in need.
The TFSS is the independent charitable foundation for the Toronto District School Board. For more information on the TFSS, please visit their website at www.tfss.ca
We encourage our students to participate as active citizens and help support this great cause. Noses can be bought from homeroom teachers starting the first week of December. Happy Holidays!
